You might be wondering how someone from Switzerland ends up on a research vessel on the other side of the Pacific. A bit of nerve, some luck, and Philip Hamilton, an underwater filmmaker at the head of Ocean Souls Films, who gave me a chance. Between my crew duties, camera or drone in hand, I set out to capture the work done on board and the beauty of the Pacific. Then, on the boat's computer, I edited my footage and Philip's into different formats, from reels to a ten-minute film. Some of my shots will appear in Remote Places, his upcoming film, where I also lent a hand to his editor, Stefano.
For a month, four scientists joined Ocean Souls Explorer to tag tiger and silky sharks, mainly in the Tuamotu archipelago. I shot and edited this short film about the expedition, under the supervision of Philip Hamilton. All underwater shots were filmed by Philip.

At the very start of whale season, we spotted a humpback whale and her calf. As I launched my drone, I happened to film a fishing boat speeding right past them. Philip Hamilton, who produced a film on vessel strikes, asked me to use this footage to raise awareness of the issue.
We spent a day with the teams of Whale Shark Conservation Mexico and gifted them a video showcasing their remarkable work.
I made this reel to showcase on social media the work of Albert, a wildlife veterinarian who came aboard to study human impact on the marine ecosystems of Baja California.
